Two weeks in Japan with the PowrKnee
I’m 57 years old and have had a ACL replacement about 35 years ago and now have a torn meniscus in my the same knee , so I have to ice my knee daily…if there is a type of brace/sleeve/ product that helps with knee pain… I have it.
So my upcoming trip was giving me a lot of anxiety about being able to walk the amount that would be required.
So much so that I went underwent an expensive six week program of stem cells injections into my to my knee prior to my trip…which seemed to do nothing, the knee pain was still there.
So I started to do a lot of research on different knee exoskeletons products. After all my research, I chose the PowerKneeX because if it’s ergonomics, 1520 watt motors, and battery life.
My two week trip to Japan entailed walking an average of 20,000 steps daily… for a total of 170 miles by end of my trip... and I’m talking up and down subway and train station steps, uneven temple steps, mountain 30-45 degree inclines and declines …everything, and the PowrKnee completely saved my knees, and made my trip.
On an average wearing the power knee for about 8 to 10 hours a day in the 75-100% assist mode …and then in the relax “massage” mode after getting back to the hotels…battery life never got below 60%. so the battery life is incredible.
As for durability, my first outing was to Mount Fuji… I stepped off the bus with my PowerKnees on and wasn’t paying attention to where I was stepping and missed the last step of the bus and fell with all my 210 lbs. body weight directly on my left PowrKnee motor.
It completely saved my knee from being injured…, and it took a beating… it left some scratches, but the unit worked perfectly for the entire trip.
Most of the time it was very hot in Japan so I wore the PowrKnee with shorts the entire time, and it was still comfortable. The support pads are removable for a quick clean, easy wash. I do have a couple suggestions if the straps could be made a little more comfortable for direct skin contact wearing with shorts, some kind of either sheeting or more padding to cover up the strap portion. Also, the straps ends are fluorescent green if those could be black they would blend in a little bit better, but these are minor concerns.
I specifically purchased the PowrKnee only for this trip, but given that it has helped my knees so much. I will definitely be using it in my everyday life …walking the dogs, riding a bike, and while I’m at work.
Thank you for making an awesome product and making my once in a lifetime Japan trip possible.

I have mild arthritis in my left knee, making stairs a constant battle. The app takes a bit of getting used to, but the active-assist function is highly accurate. It senses when I start climbing steps and gives a noticeable push right when my knee needs to bend and lift. It doesn't do all the work for you (you still have to use your muscles), but it takes away that painful grinding pressure. Good battery life so far. It's a solid piece of tech for anyone struggling with slopes.
I've been dealing with rheumatoid arthritis for years, which sadly forced me to give up hiking—something my wife and I used to love doing together. I bought the PowrKnee hoping to get some mobility back. To be completely honest, it doesn't make the pain 100% disappear, but it reduces the heavy grinding pressure on my knees significantly. Thanks to this device, we've actually started doing short weekend trails together again. It's not a miracle cure, but it gave me my weekend routine back with my wife, and for that, I'm incredibly grateful.
Pretty good product. Super helpful when going down steps or walking on steep streets near my house.
fast shipping and well packaged. it takes a few tries to get used to the straps, but once it's on, the power support is definitely there.
